Calvary Series: Community Cookout 2010

Last year I designed a couple postcards to promote my church’s annual cookout, this year I worked on new concepts for the cookout. Here’s what we ended up with:

The man coordinating the event asked me to leave the area for the text blank this year so he could plug it in when he was ready, so here is what I sent over:

Gaming website header

Earlier today I was bidding on some jobs – one particularly was for a gaming website, the owners were looking for a new header. Now, I’d never done a header for a gaming site, and don’t regularly play video games – but I used to love Tomb Raider and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. This is what I ended up with as a sample:

More wedding stuff. This is a real quick insert I made to be put in with the invitations that will be going out soon. Nothing real fancy, mostly typography.

I was playing with some photos of Judy & Zooey that I grabbed off of Google. Just in case you don’t get the reference Zooey Deschanel starred in a made for TV mini-series called The Tin Man, in which she plays DG, the great great (great?) grand daughter of Judy Garland’s character from The Wizard of Oz, Dorothy Gale. If for some strange reason you have not seen either of these, do so immediately. You’re missing out. Seriously, do it now. Also, just for an extra burst of nerdiness – did you know that Shirley Temple was originally planned for the character of Dorothy? I, for one, am very glad she didn’t do it.

Some textures, a photo of a field I got off of SXC, and some adjustments got me this wallpaper.
